Pacific Crest Trail - Day 117 - Bucks Lake Wilderness and Belden Town

This map is deceiving. If you straightened out the ~1265 miles we’ve walked to get to Bucks Lake, we’d be well into Canada.

The first few beautiful green miles in the Bucks Lake Wilderness.

The fire leapt to the island but a few trees are hanging on out there.

A devastating scene amidst a nearly hundred mile stretch of trail through more than a million scorched acres.

Even in a scorched forest, wildflowers are in bloom.

At a glance we figured these switchbacks in the distance was the trail out of Belden. We were wrong, the trail out of Belden was much steeper and highly overgrown.

Local coyotes blogger extremely sarcastic.

Are you sure we’re in the right place?

Fine dining. Dry erase marker art is on point!

VOLTAGE! LMAO
This little camping setup weighs approximately 1500 times what mine does and goes to a tiny fraction of the places.

Warning?! At my own risk?!
I think a lot of people from small towns would greatly benefit from turning off the furniture in their living room that constantly tells them that the world is scary and risky.
Good luck out there.

I‘m suddenly re-evaluating calling effective or impressive people powerhouses. Apologies!
Also, the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell.

Not exactly our most scenic campsite 🏕️ but with 5000 feet of climbing immediately ahead, it‘ll have to do.
