Pacific Crest Trail - Day 147 - Windigo Pass

Pacific Crest Trail - Day 147 - Windigo Pass

Start: Mile 1857.6 - Thielsen Creek
End: Mile 1883.2 - Cowhorn Mountain

We woke up under what is surely some evil genius’ lair.

A properly pitched (if too tight) Tarptent.

We always see these sad limp Durston tents with flung open (read: broken) zippers.

Mt Thielsen is absolutely striking. We had a chance to climb up the ridge to the summit yesterday, but would have been immersed in a cloud the entire way :/

I want to climb that. I‘ll be back.

The high point of the Pacific Crest Trail in Oregon and Washington might be the most boring mile of the entire trail. Crazy.

3,000 kilometers! That’s 3 million meters!

Mylar balloons are disgustingly resilient. We’ve picked up hundreds of these from the beach, now one from 7,000 feet up in the Oregon Wilderness. Stop buying these things.

Another water cache with battery charging packs! My phone was running on fumes after not being able to charge at Mazama Village when the power was out. This was trail magic at its best. The trail provides!

Yet another Thielsen photoshoot. A striking volcanic spire.

If you know you know! That lake over there!

We climbed up to a beautiful view of Cowhorn Mountain with a cloud sweeping across at last light and camped hoping we’d wake up dry against all odds.
