Murray‘s was exactly the dive bar with killer food we were looking for.

Big Bear is a ski town. It’s hilarious in a completely not-hilarious way how ski towns jack up housing prices to the point that the people who actually make the town function can’t afford to live there, then implement rules like this. See also: San Francisco, Boston.

We stayed at the Sierra Blue Suites and had the run of the place. I’m not even sure we saw an employee in two days. $85 a night - shoulder season price. Would recommend.
