Pacific Crest Trail - Day 46 - Agua Dulce

Start: Mile 444.3 - 49er Saloon, Acton
End: Mile 454.7 - Serenity's Oasis, Agua Dulce

We met a good sized (8-10) group of hikers who met on the Appalachian Trail and are now doing the Pacific Crest Trail together. Two of them are carrying guitars, and I’m pretty sure this guy named Jukebox, who cranked out all sorts of tunes wasn’t one of them.

Larry runs the 49er Saloon and has put together an awesome place for hikers to eat, drink, rest, and recharge. It’s pretty hilarious that camping behind a bar has been a highlight of my year.

Cornbread, not white bread - too Yankee. Wise words from grandma Helen.

New kicks!
Gaiters keep those little pebbles out of your shoes, which is surprisingly important when you’re walking through the desert all day. Ain’t nobody got time to stop to fish out an annoying little pebble every 15 minutes.

Back to trail! 10 miles to Agua Dulce.

Vasquez Rocks. One of the coolest geological formations I’ve ever seen. Tectonic movement on display in high-definition technicolor.

These multi-colored rocks reminded me of my leg back in Mt. Laguna. A young guy loitering next to me said “you ever try Neopolitan ice cream?” Neopolitan, shortened to Neo became my instant trail name.

LMAO. Truer words. Ravens will find it and DESTROY IT. Agua Dulce Ravens are huge.

We crashed at this place called Serenity’s Oasis which was a pretty cool hiker refuge with a great shower, amazing hiker resupply store, and generally great vibes.
