Pacific Crest Trail - Day 86 - Silver Pass


This looks like it would win a least efficient transportation competition.

We’re cheating. The ferry from VVR costs $20 and drops us off a mile or so from the trail. We hiked 7 bonus miles to get to VVR, so we’ll call it a wash.

Crossing a waterfall dropping 600+ feet of switchbacks. Wet feet water crossings are the norm at this point.





Don’t.
There’s a rule through here that says you need to camp 100+ feet away from the trail that I don’t quite understand. Are retired dentists upset at seeing evidence of other people? Do animals use the trail frequently at night?






At this point I’m crossing my fingers this is the last slog of a slushy descent we’ll have on trail.
