Pacific Crest Trail - Day 9

Start: Mile 95 - backcountry campsite
End: Mile 112 - backcountry campsite

We woke up on a ridge with 14 miles ahead of us to reach the Warner Springs Post Office. The post office closes at 1:30pm on Saturdays, and is closed on Sundays so we needed an early start and a fast morning to make it down there to grab our resupply box before it closed.

We hit the 100 mile mark and celebrated with a guilt-free Lenny and Larry’s birthday cake cookie. The 100 mile marker was 5 miles in for the day and we hit it at ~9:15am - making good time!

The trail down to Barrel Springs was excellent, and the skies were overcast and misty. The early morning stretch definitely didn’t feel like a desert.

We came up to Eagle Rock about 11 miles in.

It’s an interesting experience approaching a popular day hiking trailhead on a Saturday with a thru-hiking set up. I think about this tweet a lot.
Here’s what our day looked like on Gaia GPS in with Eagle Rock at 11 miles in. The trekking poles were definitely necessary towards the end of the morning.

We made it the Warner Springs Post Office at ~1:15 pm with minutes to spare.

A local named MAD (Make A Difference) Mike was grilling hot sausages near the post office for a fundraiser, which were super clutch. He and his wife were genuinely nice people.

We spent the afternoon doing laundry and relaxing at the Warner Springs Community Resource Center. I’m stoked about everything in the resupply - food, electrolyte tablets, contact solution, candy.
