Pacific Crest Trail - Days 53-55 - Zeros and Errands

Rented a car in Tehachapi to go snag a food resupply and deliver some gear we stashed in Bridgeport for the Sierra section to Grumpy Bears in Kennedy Meadows - ice axe, micro spikes, bear-proof food canisters, and a warm base layer.

Kristin also snagged a down quilt I had from the Tahoe Rim Trail to supplement the warmth of her sleeping bag.

After feeling near the brink of reaching the cold temperature limit of our desert set-up on the ridge above Tehachapi, we both decided to drop items to carry more cold-weather gear in the Sierra.

I dropped a camera tripod (light, but just over a pound), an Ursack bear/critter proof food bag since we’re going to carry bear canisters, and a few miscellaneous or redundant ditties that I hadn’t used.

The road up to Kennedy Meadows was long and windy with pretty incredible views of the desert east of the 395. We’ll be back here in 10 days or so.
