I’m reading Muir’s My First Summer in the Sierra as we’re walking through this landscape in awe. His sincere appreciation of the whole and precise annotation of the species that make it up are inspirational. I’ve looked up a couple dozen words describing the geometric growth of stems, flowers, and branches which makes me want to be better, slow down, observe, and appreciate the nuances between awe inspiring trees in awe inspiring landscapes.
